Attorney Montalvo has 29 years of experience in insurance defense and general litigation experience. He is a highly accomplished trial attorney who thrives in the courtroom. Known for his strategic thinking and persuasive advocacy, Mr. Montalvo has secured favorable verdicts in a wide range of complex civil litigation matters. He is able to connect with jury pools from a wide array of jurisdictions. He never overplays his hand which comes across well before juries. 

Mr. Montalvo’s practice focuses on defending high-stakes claims involving, premises liability, construction defects, product liability, landlord/tenant disputes, defamation, trip-and-fall accidents. He is experienced in handling catastrophic injury cases, including wrong death and amputation cases as well those involving traumatic brain injuries. Over nearly three decades, Mr. Montalvo has built a reputation for delivering favorable results for his clients. He is also known for his relentless preparation, courtroom presence, and unwavering commitment to advocate for his clients’ best interests.

Mr. Montalvo  has tried over 35 cases to verdict throughout California, which include the counties of Orange, Sacramento, San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Sonoma, Merced, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara and Solano.

He is and has been a member of the Association of Defense Counsel of North California and Nevada throughout his career. Outside of his law career, Jose enjoys traveling, cooking, and playing tennis and pickle ball with his family and friends and has recently brushed up on his golf game.
