Confidential – June 2025, San Diego

Representing a large corporate defendant, an employee made an illegal U-turn, hitting a motorcyclist, causing numerous injuries and lifelong disabilities. Primarily, plaintiff lost a leg, and required 19 surgeries. Even by the defense expert’s analysis, economic damages were between $10,000,000 and $20,000,000 (without pain and suffering). The six-week trial was against Brian Panish and televised. Although plaintiff was offered $37,000,000, plaintiff never made a demand below $77,000,000. Mr. Panish asked the jury to return a verdict of $98,000,000. The jury returned a verdict of $27,750,000 ($9,250,000 less than offered). The $77,000,000 demand required us to try the case, and shows PTG’s willingness to take even the toughest cases to trial (against one of the best trial attorneys in the country).
